THE AUGSTBORD REGION with Bürchen, Törbel and Moosalp
The Valais mountain resorts of Burchen, Torbel and Mooslap are situated on a sun- drenched terrace high above the Rhone Valley between Visp and Zermatt. These small family resorts in the region of the Augstbord are a walker’s paradise from spring to autumn, and a favourite with families for winter sports.
The choice of sports and cultural events is incredibly wide ranging from extreme
ski experience to superb opera performance, mountain bike trails or a tour of the
old Visp.
IN WINTER there are 9 ski lifts, 25kM of ski runs at an altitude between
1480m and 2540m with as many cross country skiing trails, fun park for snowboarders,
natural skating ring and children beginner slopes.
IN SUMMER 200km of sign posted hiking trails, 70km of sign posted mountain

Anzere
Constructed in 1965, the development of Anzere was based on well-studied planning and designed layout. The heart of the resort is called Anzere Village is a pedestrian zone, a rather new concept dating back to the 60s. Large wooden chalets surrounding a pedestrian square. A choice of shops, boutiques in a continuous gallery, with restaurants, café terraces, and playground for children with public benches. Visitors will appreciate this car free open space, safe for children and favoured by parents .Anzere is a medium size resort, cosy and friendly situated on a high South facing plateau. There are 1 cable car, 2 chair lifts, 8 T-bar tows and a snowboarder slope. In the village, a special T-bar tow is specially designed for beginners and young children.

La Tzoumaz
Where is the relatively new Valaisan resort of La Tzoumaz ? It nestles in a pretty, green side valley on the left side of the Rhone at an altitude of 1500m. The valley lies about halfway between Martigny and Sion,.La Tzoumaz is ideally situated for winter sports. As a valley station of the Savoleyres cable-car it allows access to magnificent runs of the 4 Valleys where it is possible to ski until the end of April. In summer guests can choose from the many strolls through the refreshing coolness of the pine and larch forests to the alpine meadows. Lotschen Valley Attractive snow-sure ski area - a dream for
ski and snowboard enthusiasts.
This gateway to some of the most famous peaks in the Alps provides a real escape
into nature for mountain enthusiasts seeking a tranquil environment. LAUCHERNALP
is the residential and skiing area of WILER and reached by a 5 minutes cable car
run. The whole region is UNESCO classified and offering spectacular scenery. The
skiing area offers 40km of prepared slopes of medium difficulties and a free ride
arena of virgin slopes. It also provides access to a winter walking trail at over
3000 meters with an exceptional panoramic view. In summer the walk from the Lauchernalp
across the Lotschenpass into the Bernese Oberland to Kandersteg ranks among the
classics of the region.

Zermatt Information about the Town Zermatt, at the foot of the majestic Matterhorn,
is a world without cars. Electric-cars and horse-drawn sleighs and carriages are
the only transport allowed. Come to car-free Zermatt - the perfect Alpine resort
for rest and relaxation.
Zermatt, with its wind-protected southern location, embraces
three skiing areas which enjoy superb snow conditions and the longest skiing season
in the Alps. The 313 km of ski runs include slopes ranging from the simplest to
the most challenging. Easy access is provided by an extensive network of 74 transport
facilities, with high-capacity cableways, mountain railways and ski-lifts (incl.
Cervinia, Italy) capable of conveying up to 75700 passengers an hour.
Zermatt has
many opportunities for hiking. There are numerous well-marked footpaths and walks
(400 km in all) which will take you through pine-scented mountain forests, to the
shores of calm Alpine lakes and to the ice-blue glaciers. Mountain railways make
it easy to reach the high altitude rambling areas. There are many mountain cabins
and restaurants ready to offer a warm welcome and a leisurely rest.
Alpine tourism
was the beginning of Zermatt's development. Situated at the foot of the Matterhorn
and surrounded by 38 fourthousend-meter high mountains, Zermatt has always been
the beloved goal for mountain climbers from all over the world. The Zermatt Alpine
Center organizes training sessions, day tours, glacier walks every day, while for
longer tours there are 80 state-registered mountain guides available for our guests.
The Matterhorn Golf Club's golf course at Randa-Täsch is located on the valley floor
between the two villages of Randa and Täsch at 1400 m. above sea-level and very
close to the international resort of Zermatt. The golf course has been laid out
on two separate pieces of land on either side of the River Vispa. The course is
almost level and easy to walk around. A former area of marsh has been transformed
into a lake which will contain an unique island green. The Scottish golf course
architect John Chilver-Stainer planned the 21-hectare golf course to blend in with
the natural landscape. |
